One of the most outstanding painters in France, Eduard Manetwas born in 1832. However, the young man from a very young age dreamed of artistic activity. Under the influence of his parents, the young Mane makes an attempt to enter one of the Marine Schools. Mane exam does not stand. After that, he goes on a trip to the shores of South America. The journey takes place on the ship Le Havre and Guadeloupe, where the young Manet serves as a young man.

During this long journey the young man draws a lot. These are mainly portraits and sketches of the crew members of the ship. After returning from a trip, he again tries to enter the Naval School, where he again fails. After repeated failure, with the consent of his parents, Manet begins to paint. The training, which lasted more than 6 years, takes place in the workshop of Tom Couture, a rather famous artist and academician. During his studies, he takes trips to Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic, where he gets acquainted with the largest museums and art monuments in Europe. The training lasted until 1856.

From the end of the training period until 1870, Manet continued his work as an artist. The main technique, in his work, remains figured compositions and portraits. During the German siege of Paris, in 1870, the artist becomes an artilleryman and is among the defenders of the city. He tries to capture the city during its blockade and famine. In those same years, the artist became acquainted, and the artist communicated with famous impressionists of that time, such as Monet, Pissarro, Sisley, and others. In the 1880s, being already seriously ill, Manet wrote a number of still lifes that were not typical of his portraiture style. The artist died in 1883 on April 30.

The work of this artist was not particularly recognized until the 1890s, when his painting was, literally, imposed on the Louvre Museum, by his friends. Thereafter, mans paintings other museums and private collectors began to acquire.
